Summary
IF AN employee in a manufacturing company had developed, produced and sold a novel product, it would be somewhat surprising if, a few years on, the business agreed to that employee becoming an "independent" supplier utilising the same manufacturing, marketing and distribution network but keeping the profits for himself.
This would be even more surprising if the employee worked in the public sector. Why, then, is it even thought appropriate that a journalist paid from public funds should be able to do this? In most cases of presenters it is the media that makes the "celebrity", not the other way round, and there are many more as good in the wings.See the full content of this document
