Letters

The 1929 constitutional settlement which brought together the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church is set out in a series of "Articles Declaratory of the Constitution of Church of Scotland in Matters Spiritual".

The third of these Articles declares the Church's commitment to "bring the ordinances of religion to the people in every parish of Scotland through a territorial ministry".

In 2008 the General Assembly set up a Special Commission to assess what this means in the very different circumstances of today.
