Craig Levein, the Scotland manager, defended his decision not to play with a single striker in last night's 1-0 defeat to the Czech Republic.

Levein opted to field four defenders and six midfielders in Prague - and dropped in-form striker Kenny Miller in favour of handing a debut to Queens Park Rangers' Jamie Mackie in the Euro 2012 qualifier.
