Summary

Craig Levein has taken the biggest gamble of his Scotland reign by parachuting untried striker Jamie Mackie straight into the team to face the Czech Republic tonight and leaving out Kenny Miller.

The 25-year-old Queens Park Rangers forward has never been in a squad before but he and Steven Naismith will be Scotland's main hopes of a goal in the Euro 2012 tie in Prague. The selection is a major blow to Miller, who is on 49 caps and has been the country's main striker for most of the last decade. But that has included the past two years in which Scotland have failed to score a single goal in their six away games. Mackie, who is quick and can play wide, was born in Dorking but is Scotland's new hope because of a grandfather from Kilmarnock and a run of eight goals in 11 appearances for the Championship leaders.
