SEVERAL local authorities yesterday announced plans to lay off management jobs, overhaul some services and privatise others in an attempt to save millions of pounds during the financial squeeze on the public purse.
South Lanarkshire, one of the country's largest authorities in terms of population with 300,000 people is planning to shed about 150 management posts across its departments to secure annual savings of L6m, making some staff redundant and redeploying others.See the full content of this document
