JOCK Wilson, at 100 years of age the oldest surviving British soldier from the Normandy landings, had good reason yesterday to welcome the news that a fund has been set up to pay for visits by second world war veterans to the battlefields in which they fought.
With a trip back to the beaches planned for later this year, the old campaigner might just apply for a grant himself. The (pounds) 10m scheme is entitled The Heroes Return, after all. As the proud recipient of the Military Medal, the former Black Watch infantryman undoubtedly qualifies as a hero.See the full content of this document
