MACLAY Inns, the Alloa, Clackmannanshire-based pubs chain, yesterday flagged its plans to go on a (pounds) 16m buying spree in an effort to expand its group of 21 community pubs and inns across Scotland.

The company plans to purchase a rate of six new venues a year over the next three years, and said that turnover is set to rise to in excess of (pounds) 11m for the year.
