NELSON Mandela invoked the parable of the Good Samaritan in London yesterday with an emotive plea to free the world's poor from poverty.

Standing in Trafalgar Square, the scene of many antiapartheid demonstrations in the sixties, seventies and eighties while he was languishing in jail, the international hero urged world leaders not to look the other way from poverty.
