STEPHEN Timms, pensions minister, came under fire from one of Scotland's leading businessmen yesterday as he defended the government's record on pensions at a seminar in Edinburgh.
Chris Masters, chairman of SMG and holder of a string of senior board posts in Scotland, asked Timms "whether with hindsight he regrets the Treasury decision to tax pension funds to the order of GBP5bn a year . . . and does he feel comfortable with justifying a highly-generous pension package for the public sector while most in the private sector have had their pensions destroyed by government policies".See the full content of this document
