Manager Alex McLeish made a formal inquiry to Celtic about the 23- year-old winger last week but did not make an offer after Peter Lawwell, the chief executive, made it clear that McGeady was not for sale. A senior Celtic source last night denied that McLeish had been back in touch, but The Herald understands that the former Rangers manager has decided that he will submit an offer to take McGeady south.
