Fears that David Barron, the St Mirren defender, could be ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining a knee injury during the Co-Operative Insurance Cup final against Rangers were eased yesterday.

The Paisley club were concerned that Barron had suffered medial ligament damage, but a scan has revealed the news is not as bad as first thought.
