MONETARY Policy Committee member Andrew Sentance last night ramped up his campaign for an immediate rise in benchmark UK interest rates - declaring it a "mistake" to label all global factors affecting inflation as one-off disturbances.
And Mr Sentance claimed the Bank of England committee, by continuing to hold UK base rates at a record low of 0.5%, risked a "loss of belief" in its commitment to achieving the 2% target for annual UK consumer prices index inflation set by the Treasury.
