CROSS-PARTY demands for an investigation into why secret CIA flights carrying terror suspects were being allowed to land in the UKwere put to the government by MPs last night.

The Herald revealed yesterday that the UK is expected to become the main European refuelling hub for so-called "rendition mission" flights to North Africa and the Middle East - where people with alleged links to al Qaeda and other radical groups can be interrogated beyond the reach of US and European human rights legislation.
