MPs and MSPs are to be given a pre-election inflation-busting pay rise, it was announced by Downing Street yesterday.
From April 1, parliamentarians north and south of the border on the front and back benches will see their pay rise by 2.8-per cent. The government's preferred measure of inf lation, the consumer prices index, is 1.6-per cent. This will mean that an MP's salary will rise from pounds-57,485 to pounds-59,092, an increase of pounds- 1607. London ministerial salaries, which are paid on top of MPs' pay, vary depending on seniority.See the full content of this document
