SCOTLAND still needs a centre for architecture and design, culture minister Michael Russell has said, but added that it was clear that The Lighthouse's business model had become unsustainable.

Mr Russell, speaking for the first time about The Lighthouse, the Glasgow centre that went into administration this week with the loss of 24 jobs, said that it was not possible for the government to bail out the struggling arts centre.
