Summary
JOAN Armatrading certainly can't be accused of lacking variety. In this near two-hour performance, the quietly spoken - when she speaks at all - singer-songwriter ran a gamut of musical personalities from vulnerable balladeer to out and out rocker, and from jolly bubblegum pop vendor to effects-drenched, guitar slinging blues mama.
She didn't get off to the most auspicious of starts. Her vocals on the opening Show Some Emotion sounded uncertain and overly staccato and with an echo delay as wide as the Clyde, the bluesy Something's Gotta Blow was a bit of a mess, really.See the full content of this document
