Summary
IT would be unkind to call the Scottish Chamber Orchestra's programme at the weekend a mere ragbag, but it certainly felt like a collection of bits - six pieces, all unrelated if very loosely linked, by their jazz feel.
To cut to the quick: best of the night were two items: from the SCO, a sparkling, rambunctious and rare performance of Darius Milhaud's La Creation du Monde, which brought the best out of the 1920s romp, and the best out of the SCO; and from guest saxophonist Joe Lovano, a gorgeous, smoky, nocturnal ballad version of Vince Mendoza's Ambivalence, effortlessly fluid and ravishingly accompanied by the SCO string section.See the full content of this document
