THE leader of an expert group on the future of Scotland's NHS last night promised to define what health conditions require care by centralised specialist teams and what can be treated closer to patients' home.
Professor David Kerr told the first major public meeting on Scotland's health service that he would find the "tipping point" between care that has to be delivered in hospitals and care that can be provided in smaller units. He said his team would scour the globe for evidence on an issue that has caused furious debate between health board managers planning to close hospital services and patients.See the full content of this document
