WITH reference to your report about hospitals showing lack of dignity and respect for the elderly (The Herald, July 23), may I recount one very recent experience?
Earlier this week my 87-year-old cousin was released from the impressive New Victoria Infirmary after nine weeks' treatment for serious injuries received in a fall. She was taken in a wheelchair from the ward to the waiting patient transport ambulance. She had a small case with her day and night clothes, medication, etc, two small carrier bags with books, magazines and other personal effects, and of course her handbag.See the full content of this document
