Norman Maynard Clark, celebrated war correspondent and foreign editor of the News Chronicle has died aged 94.

He was the son of Archie Clark, a journalist from Glasgow who travelled to South Africa as far as the highly-respected Rand Daily Mail at the turn of the last century, before returning to become one of the influential clan of Scots in the higher echelons of Fleet Street itself.
