SCOTS patients are being invited to take advantage of a new air link to Norway to have medical treatments such as eye and hip operations and in-vitro fertilisation carried out by the latest player in health tourism.

A private Norwegian clinic yesterday launched itself in Edinburgh offering a cataract operation for GBP1000 (one eye), a hip replacement for around GBP9000 (before a 30per cent discount), and IVF treatment for couples starting at GBP1800.
