Nuclear-Power Poll

Summary

I BELIEVE your headline, Majority of Scots oppose nuclear power (March 5), is simply wrong, and shows a failure to interpret the poll results properly. It would have been correct if the words, "if suitable renewable energy is available" had been added.

Unfortunately, sufficient renewable energy is definitely not available as yet, and it will be many years before it is, even if much greater effort is made. In particular, it is inexcusable that both the government and the media have failed to publicise the advice from Denmark (the country with most experience of wind power) that you cannot use more than 15-per cent of wind in the power mix. If you try, it becomes uncontrollable.
