CLAUDE ANELKA and John Hollins are the Oscar and Felix of Raith Rovers. Like the flat-sharing double act of The Odd Couple, they are as alike as chalk and cheese. The millionaire Frenchman is a soft- spoken 33-year-old who became the manager at Raith Rovers despite having no experience of running a football club. He had come to Scotland from Miami, where he had a nightclub, after his backers put (pounds) 320,000 into the Fife club.

After a dismal start, he realised he needed a more experienced man by his side and Hollins, who was coaching in China, got the call. As the former manager of Chelsea and Swansea, and with a distinguished playing career spanning an impressive 938 games with Arsenal, Chelsea and Queens Park Rangers, the Londoner fitted the bill.
