SCOTTISH athletics Liz McColgan is to stand trial charged with repeatedly punching her estranged husband on the head and throwing his clothes out of a window of their luxury home.

McColgan, 47, who won silver in the 10,000 metres at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, appeared at Arbroath Sheriff Court yesterday after the alleged attack at the mansion they continue to share in Carnoustie, Angus.
