ORANGE is to axe between 1800 and 2000 jobs across the UK under a review of its operational costs announced yesterday.

Redundancies were possible as "a last resort", Bernard Ghillebaert, the chief executive, warned, although the cuts were to be achieved mainly through redeployment, and non-renewal of temporary contracts.
