JEONG JANG, the tiny Korean, opened up a four-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Weetabix Women's British Open yesterday but there was no danger of anyone in the chasing pack throwing in the towel.

The smiling 24-year-old had a six-under-par 66 for a 10under total of 134. Secondplaced Louise Stahle, a Swedish amateur, who is planning to turn professional next week in time for the Swedish Open, went one better with a 65. American Cristie Kerr had a 66 for 139, and American Pat Hurst had a 65 for 140 to be the only other player closer than seven shots off the pace.
