IN YET again increasing the meanstested pension credit and leaving the basic state pension alone the chancellor has disadvantaged not only myself but millions of other pensioners.

In his recent book, The Point of Departure, Robin Cook pointed out that on November 27, 2002, Gordon Brown made a commitment to parliament that "no pensioner will be living on less than - pounds100 per week by 2003". In my most recent communication from the Pensions Service I was informed that my pension was to be increased from April 11, 2005, to - pounds82.95.
