As we all loll on the couch in a post-Christmas haze, stuffing our faces with the remnants from the selection boxes, pawing wearily at the TV remote and yawning, groaning and belching like over- indulged sea lions with heartburn, we can afford the time to take stock and mull over the season.

We all know that the golfing year was thoroughly compelling. From Luke Donald's transatlantic conquests to the major successes of Messrs McIlroy and Clarke; from Tiger Woods' reappearance on the winner's podium to the uplifting team triumphs of Europe's women and Great Britain & Ireland's amateurs in the Solheim Cup and the Walker Cup respectively. They were memorable moments that have all been pored over and documented to the hilt.
