THE first private hospital in Scotland geared specifically for day-case surgery and diagnosis is to be built on the outskirts of Glasgow.

An application has been made to build the centre on a 60-acre site in the first new venture since Andy Kerr, the health minister, set in train a series of cash incentives last year to expand the independent sector as a provider of NHS services.
