DIAGNOSTICS specialist Axis-Shield pleasantly surprised the market yesterday with forecast-beating profits despite no financial contribution from its highly-touted Afinion product.
The shares rose nearly 2.5-per cent as the market digested the news that the company, formed through a merger in 1999, had posted its first full-year profit since Norway's Axis joined up with Dundee- based Shield Diagnostics. Pre-tax profits for 2005 were GBP1.9m - compared to a loss of GBP800,000 the previous year - on sales that were 11-per cent higher at GBP58.2m.See the full content of this document
