HOSPITAL campaigners who staged an occupation of an NHS headquarters yesterday were told the health board would consider allowing a deputation to address members about the proposed downgrading of three accident and emergency departments.

Lanarkshire Health Board is conducting a public consultation on its proposals, with its favoured option being to turn Monklands hospital into an elective surgery centre, reducing the A&E department to a minor injuries unit.
