NICK PRICE, the last man to win an Open Championship at Turnberry, may not be here this week, but he is very much present in the memory of the Scot for whom Homecoming Year has taken on a very personal meaning.

As a 12-year-old boy, Martin Laird was taken to that 1994 Open, brought by destiny that day to what was absolutely the right place at the right time. Now, as he contests this great championship for the first time, he is back at the place that provided him with his greatest moment of inspiration.
