RIOT police last night secured the museum that contains the world's greatest collection of Egyptian treasures, including the death mask of the pharaoh Tutankhamun.

Officers moved in after people formed a human chain to protect the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, one of the country's major tourist attractions and a symbol of its pharaoh past, from looters.
