A CONVICTED killer who was said to have confessed to the murder at the centre of the Shirley McKie scandal has been eliminated from police inquiries, it emerged yesterday.

Patrick Docherty, 42, who is already serving a sentence for killing a pensioner, was claimed by a newspaper to have boasted about murdering Marion Ross, 51, who was stabbed at her Kilmarnock home in 1997.
