NEXT Wednesday will be an important day for the campaign to save Scotland's six historic infantry regiments, as not only will back benchers debate the contentious issue in the morning but Geoff Hoon, the defence secretary, will face the wrath of MPs on the House of Commons defence committee in the afternoon.
Already Labour and SNP back benchers have tabled parliamentary motions calling on the government to reverse its decision to scrap the regiments and replace them with either two new ones - a Highland and a Lowland regiment - or a single Scottish super-regiment.See the full content of this document
