ITWAS pure coincidence that I attended the Tayside Joint Police Board as a substitute representing Perth and Kinross Council on Monday morning after having read your front-page article on the notion of performance-related pay for police officers. But it did make me think.
I think this is a very bad idea. There were some pejoratives in your article, such as the potential for inequality which the idea raises and the difficulties of comparing rural and city policing problems. There are other difficulties you did not mention.See the full content of this document
