At Craigentinny Bowling Club they are calling their brightest young prospect the new Richard Corsie, which would probably mean even more to the youngster if the three-time world indoor champion's last great win had not happened the year before Josh Spalding was born.

Corsie won those indoor titles in 1989, '91 and '93, before going on to win gold at the Commonwealth Games in 1994, and since he is widely regarded as the finest natural talent of all the great bowlers Scotland has produced in recent times, Spalding is still well aware of just how big a compliment he is being paid.
