SCOTLAND'S largest police force is lobbying for the introduction of toughened glass in all bars and nightclubs across the west of Scotland, as new figures show there are more than six glass or bottle attacks across the country every day.

The move would see a self-imposed ban by pub owners on traditional glass tumblers across the Strathclyde area but those which fail to sign up could be shut if a glassing subsequently takes place on their premises.
