ALEX McLEISH will escape the wrath of the Scottish Football Association despite the governing body taking a dim view of his accusations of a vendetta against Rangers.

George Peat, the chairman of the SFA's general purposes committee, has decided not to investigate the Rangers manager's outburst for fear of the situation descending into farce at a time when Scottish football is enveloped in crisis. Yet the SFA are adamant that they have not been forced into a climbdown on the issue.
