ATone time the Mr Angry of golf, Craig Stadlerwas a model of level temperament yesterday as the first sub-par round of the British Senior Open gave him the halfway lead.

On a high-quality leaderboard, his three-under-par 68 left him the only player below par on a one-under-par aggregate of 141. He was two ahead of Greg Norman, of Australia, who went one better on the day with a 67 in the early evening.
