CHILDREN as young as six are to become the first line of defence in the battle against racism. In the first move of its kind in Scotland, pupils across Glasgow's 184 primary schools will be taught about racial discrimination and how to deal with it.

Lessons will begin in primary one, where children will discuss the differences in skin colour between themselves and other ethnic groups, and explore the fact that some people discriminate against others on the grounds of race.
