Summary
Tony Randall will be best remembered as Felix Unger, from the television version of The Odd Couple, though he was also a great raconteur, appearing on Johnny Carson and David Letterman's shows more than 100 times each, and he appeared in dozens of films, with co-starring roles in three Rock Hudson-Doris Day comedies.
Randall specialised in sophisticated, but rather fussy best friends, like Felix, and helped lay the foundations for such contemporary characters as Frasier and Niles Crane. He denied he was like Felix and slightly resented the typecasting success brought, though he loved Manhattan, art, opera and serious theatre, spending $1m of his own money to found the National Actors Theatre in 1991.See the full content of this document
