NO-ONE can say the creature lacks rat-like cunning. Eight tons of Warfarin poison and 4220 traps have almost wiped out the vast rodent population of Canna, where they were causing untold damage to young birds.
Some 5000 rats have been fatally drawn to poisoned candles, soap, sticks dipped in cooking oil, and chocolate placed in bait stations.
