PERHAPS I could ask those more versed in economics than myself to consider the reasons for Gordon Brown's dilemma. If he had not supported Tony Blair's decision to invade Iraq, had he not agreed to finance the government's nuclear weapons upgrade at Faslane or supported the failed IT systems in ministerial offices, he would have had more resources than he hopes to gain by plundering the oil/ gas industries in the North Sea. That presents an immediate threat to further investment in that critical area of future homebased energy resources.
