THE president of the Lithuanian football federation, Liutauras Varanavicius, resigned as a Hearts director yesterday, and launched a stout defence of Vladimir Romanov, the club owner.
He said his appointment as a non-executive director on February 1, 2005 had always been intended as a short-term one. The Herald understands, though, that he was coming under pressure from football officials in his own country and was aware of growing concern within the SFA over his role at Tynecastle.See the full content of this document
