AN Edinburgh woman who claims her mother would have more rights in prison than in a care home is setting up a campaign to reverse a policy where old people are being isolated behind closed doors in parts of Scotland.

In July, The Herald revealed that elderly residents in some care homes are being forced to live behind closed doors under a new fire safety regime, imposed after the Rosepark nursing home blaze in Uddingston, Lanarkshire, which killed 14 pensioners in January.
