Summary
ROLLS-Royce yesterday said it had been awarded two major contracts - one of which is a (pounds) 47m award to build a hi-tech international rescue system that will be based on the Clyde and will help crews escape from sunken submarines.
The company, which is also the world's second-largest aero- engine maker, said the order had been placed by the UK, France and Norway as part of the Nato submarine rescue system, or NSRS, and is centred around a 10-metre-long submarine operated by a crew of three, which can dive to a stricken boat and dock with it to rescue the crew.See the full content of this document
