THE Royal Scottish National Orchestra announced details of its new season yesterday - and the beginning of the search for a successor to Alexander Lazerev, its principal conductor.

His eight-year association with Scotland's national orchestra is coming to a close, and he will celebrate his final year with a series of his favourite works, including music by Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky, Mahler and Rachmaninov, and will end the season with an evening of music by Prokofiev.
