THE lack of affordable housing in rural Scotland has reached crisis point, with some families forced to live in caravans and boats because they have been priced out of their own housing markets, a conference was told yesterday.
It heard that average house prices had increased by 41% in the past year - more than double the nationwide figure - placing home ownership out of reach for low-income rural families and young people, while a decline in public investment and right to buy legislation had limited opportunities to rent.See the full content of this document
