ALEX Salmond has laughed off claims that he used a Cabinet meeting as an excuse for a round of golf at one of Scotland's leading courses.

The First Minister came under fire from the Labour Party yesterday after he said in a magazine interview that the chance to play at Royal Dornoch Golf Club in Sutherland was a factor in the decision to meet his ministers in the area.
